ayame has turned really aggressive. hes rattling his tail and actually trying to bite me. he shed 2 weeks ago and thats when its started. how i can make him nice again because he isnt normally like this.
i think thinking about putting in a smaller tank and handle him more often but im not sure.
(sorry this thread is a bit noobish im in a hurry )

i definitely think bigger meals are the answer. He should easily take a small mouse and I reckon a medium mouse wouldn't be too much trouble either at that size.

my smaller corn charlie is roughly the same size and age as yours and is on 1 large mouse every 10 days, chilli my bigger girly is on a large mouse every 7 days cos she goes mental and tries to eat whatever comes near her viv if i leave her for 10 days. Whereas charlie just wont eat more often than once every 10 days. Im pretty sure your snakey could manage at least a small mouse once a week. he might be grumpy at being fed twice a week as he will constantly be digesting and they need to be left alone for that. Chilli likes to be left for 3 days after a meal or she will rattle and snap at you if she is disturbed but after 3 days she is fine. Charlie on the other hand just likes his 2 days, then has a poo then is happy to be handled again. They are all very different.

Similar to my temps then.

That's about 23C cool end and 29C warm end. Using the 75f and 85f temps for conversion.

Just incase people don't want to convert... I'm bored just now, so thought I'd look.

sorry ive just noticed that o_0 i was in a rush. i was meant to say cool end is about 73/75f and the hot end is 80/85f temps keep jumping about. i blame the weather. do you think i should buy another thermostat just to be on the safe side.. im using my phone so i apologize if what ive said is abit jumpy

Mine are about the same age and length, I have only just got them home but have been advised to feed them, 1 large mouse or 1 small rat every 10 days.

That made me concerned too Simmy.

30c would be your warm end and 80c would be...on top of the kettle?
Simmy_82 Posted - 04/08/2011 : 07:30:34
30c at cool end and 80c at warm??
nova1990 Posted - 03/08/2011 : 22:36:59

at that size it shouldn't be a problem feeding him a small mouse - maybe instead try feeding him 2 fuzzys once a week to get him used to a bigger meal
nova1990 Posted - 03/08/2011 : 22:02:52
they still leave a bump but i was thinking about trying on a small mouse but i dont want to rush things and hurt him..
gmac Posted - 03/08/2011 : 21:57:31
is a good sized snake, perhaps fuzzies arent enough. Maybe time to move up a size in food 2-3 ft snakes can normally take a small mouse quite easily. does the fuxxy leave a bump after feeding if not then will most likely take a small mouse.
nova1990 Posted - 03/08/2011 : 21:51:41
hes roughly about 2 and a half/3ft and hes in a 4ft tank.. hes 3 years old and im feeding him twice a week one fuzzy a time. as for housing hes got 2 hides one in the cool end and one in the hot end.. loads of fake leaves/plants around his tank and a piece of a tree (clean from the reptile shop near me) in the the middle of his tank.. oh and hes got a mid water bowl. temps cool end is 30c and hot end is 80c.. oh and yes hes shed both his eye caps. its the first thing i check when he sheds
gingerpony Posted - 03/08/2011 : 19:11:05

tarotpodge Posted - 03/08/2011 : 16:41:03

Mamma Posted - 03/08/2011 : 16:28:07
