Hi all!

I'm not too far away from getting my first corn snake! I am trying to cut costs as much as possible and i was wondering if any problems would arise if I made its hides from air drying clay?

Anything appriciated

Depends, is it a corn snake or a Cobra

You wont need a hook.

Will i need a snake hook for it?

Thanks guys, i was just tryna think of low hides cos when i get my snake it will only need a small faun, i've got stuff i will use when it grows up and moves house, but they are a bit too tall for the small faun. typical LOL :)

So long as its non-toxic i cant see any problems
....other than it being hard to clean if something gets on there (mouse blood, poop or even water) since the clay might absorb it.
Varnishing it with non-toxic stuff would probably fix that, but i can see that being more effort and money than just buying a hide would lol

Plant pots, toilet roll tubes, coconuts, wickery bird houses can all make nice cheap hides

I made hides out of salt dough, can't remember the exact recipe but they worked really well.
