how big a gap, photo? they're excellent escape artists, my gravid adult female managed to escape through a gap the width of electrical flex - don't trust them!!

If there is any chance the snake will be able to touch the tape, its noth worth the risk. It can cause alot of damage. |

If the snake isn't in there yet, then get a cheap tube of silicon sealant from a local market, or poundland or somewhere like that and use that to fill the holes.
It needs a good 24 hours to go off really, then you'll be good to put snake in without risking escape.
I used to used a 4ft x 1ft x1ft fish tank as a viv for a snake and the lid was useless on that as well, so i put silicon sealant all around the the top, then put the lid on. When it dried i used a nice sharp stanley blade to slice through the sealant so i could remove the lid which meant when i put the lid back on it sealed nicely and the only holes left were ones i KNEW he couldn't escape from. |

Blu-tack probably wouldn't work, it becomes softer when warmed so after a short while the snake would just be able to push through it, plus lord knows what chems are in blu-tack.
depends on the size of the hole and thickness of any flex you have going through it, a small exo-terra adhesive humidity/temp guage might stick over it. They only cost about 1.50. |

my synyster tank has a lit that sits over the top, which has slight gaps around it so to make it snug i got a roll of window draft excluding tape, it was about £2 for about 10ft from wilkinsons works a treat!! |
