First of all hi everyone! I have been looking at this forum for a couple of months now and all i would like to say is a big thankyou to all for sharing your experience! It has and im sure it will help me greatly as i have now had my baby Anery (Stan) for a couple of days!
He had his first feed with me today! Two pinkies!! So happy to see him eat well! I have let him settle in for a few days but he has been pretty lively so i thought i would feed him. Had to brain the first one but he was searching around for more, the second he wolfed down with no worries!
One very happy first time snake owner!
Oh HI again! |

No decent pics yet im afraid. As soon as i get some decent pics i will put them up. It will be a few days now as i dont want to disturb him after his meal this evening! How long after feeding does everyone leave their snake until handling? I read about 24 HRS??? Also do you tend to turn up the temp after eating?
Thanks again every one!

Recommend at least 48 hours before handling after eating. Temp shouldn't need turning up after eating, provided you have your lovely warm side, snakie will just curl up in the warm area under it's hide. |

Sorry i meant 48 hrs, DOH!
HAPPY XMAS EVERYONE!
Last night Stan was in his warm side all curled up in a hide but this morning he is in another hide in the cooler side.
The temp at warm end is 27 degree's and about 22 at the cool side, do they tend to move ends to regulate after eating?
Im sure he knows what is the best temp for him to digest, i just thought he would stay at the warm end while digesting?
Anybody know when i should expect to see some poo?
Thanks

by providing a temperature gradient (warm <--> cool) the snake can choose the temperature that suits him best and that may involve changing hides and possibly changing back again too.
poo usually happens a few days after feeding but if the snake is utilising all the nutrients from it's meal (eg after having been on a starvation or low maintenance diet) poo might not happen for weeks! |

I wont worry to much im sure as long as the temps are ok he will be fine!
Can anybody recommend a type of low heat emitting bulb that i can put into the VIV? I have been looking at the LED type with very low wattage.?? |
