After thawing some mice i noticed that they both had blood coming out from the nose. Does anyone know why this would be and whether these are still ok too feed to my snake? I got these mice from a new shop so this is the first time ive used them. Many thanks. |

Yeh, mine occasionally do that.. It's nothing to worry about
Maybe its due to the way they were killed? |

It's because when they're frozen the blood doesn't freeze solid, it turns into crystals which change size and tear holes in the mouses' blood vessels, so when it thaws again, it trickles out of said holes. It's nothing to worry about =) |

the blood would be in the nose if the mice were gassed. Because the gas would cause their blood vessels to expands, the very samll capillaries in the nose would have burst, cause some blood to reside in the nose, which obviously melts when unthawed and therefore leaks out.
Hope that makes sense. Just one possible reason :P |

As others have said, it is normal. What I don't like is when Lucien, my male King, constricts the mouse so tight he pops it and then there is blood everywhere!! He has to have a wipe down after feeding! Mucky sod! |
