Hi I'm from Chester and I got my first ever snake about a month ago now! He/she is a normal corn snake, last years hatchling and about 18inches long, do you think he was hatched about August? And hes just going through his first shed with me I'm so excited! lol As soon as he/shes sheds I'm going to take him to the petshop to get probbed so I can finally give him a name! (Any suggestions?) This forum is great you all seem to know soo much! and I hope I can learn lots from you all. Thank you

I thought I try put up some pics of my snakey. They aren't very good because they are from my phone can I rubbish at taking photos! lol
This is him eating his first meal with me, hes on 2 pinkies atm:
And this is him/her having a quick bath, this was today and he has just turned normal after being blue all week so I assume that means he will shed soon! :D
I hope you like him as much as I do!! (He is just a normal right?)

Very pretty snake! You can't really tell the age by the length of the snake as they all grow at different rates depending on how much they are fed. Welcome to the forum ^^ |

Its nice to meet you all, and thank you all for the warm welcomes :D
One quick question, I am waiting for a thermostat to be delievered this week for my snake as the pet shop guy told me this heat mat won't over heat but now I know thats not true! I have been measuring the temps of the glass inside the tank above the heat mat (with a digital thermometer with probe) and it gets to about 35c so I've moved it from directly under my snakes warm hide but should I turn it off completely until I get the stat? Hes in my bedroom but I can't be sure he won't get too cold but I don't want him to get brain damage!
Thanks Jen

Is the mat stuck to the bottom of the tank? If it is, take if off and leave it on whatever surface is it on. Then grab some coins and put them under the tank to make a gap between it and the mat, it should cool it a bit but still keep him warm-ish. |

Yes the mat is under the glass tank. That is a great idea about the coins! I will do that now, I knew all those 1p would become useful someday! lol Thank you :D Hopefully it wont take to long for my stat to arrive |
