This is my Goliath Bird Eater Tarantula. shes going through a very placid and docile stage at present which is why she is able to be handled. her reactions are very slow, the last time she was like this was 2 years ago and i was convinced last time that she was dying but she soon perked up after a week or so after cleaning her tank out. she was acting like it again for the last few weeks so i thought a cleanout was in order. as this is a high humidity loving species, the down fall to this is that they need alot more maintenance than a dry loving species as the substrate becomes stagnant within 3 months and this is not good for the spider.
My dad being braver than me, handled her whilst i took the photos. (she actually looks bigger than she does in the photos, as photos dont give 100% real image compared to the real 3d world)

thanks for the replies everyone. this spider is the least fussiest out of all my tarantulas, she would eat any type of cricket, locust or meal worm you see in the tubs in the food sections in reptile shops. once a year i give her a frozen/thawed mouse and you can leave it in the tank and check a few hours later and there she will be eating it. as a member of invicta arachnid club, my club chairman said that all the species hes had , the goliath is the only species he knows that will "scavenge"
