I was wondering if this helps with set ups. I used a couple sheets of tin foil between the heat mat and leverage so more heat is kept in rather that just wasting away.

When I first did this I gained an extra degree of heat in the viv. Will this work for everyone?

If so I claim the idea first. *Clings to post.*

You will gain a few degrees of heat, you'll find your mat has to work less hard as well and that your stat will be off more as well now.
Sticking polystyrene underneath generally can cut the running time that a stat runs a mat down to about 50%. Means it's running less, so costs less to run. Greater ability to justify another viv then.

The only thing with that is tin foil is designed to reflect heat, not spread it, so you are going to reflect heat back onto the heatmat, which might cause hot spots, melting then fire, personally, I wouldn't, they are designed to not have it. A mat the right size won't need help warming up, more cooling down.

Question about the styrofoam polystyrene story, how big does it need to be? does the entire viv sit on it or is it just in the gaps between the black feet of the viv - exo terra glass one.
I've got serious temperature issues! :(

With my vivs that I use polystyrene with, I sit the entire viv on it.
So the near entire underside is covered.

Pffft, she'd never know.
Explain to her at some point about how amazed you are with the subject of parthenogenesis in reptiles.
Then you can try claim that reason as to why you suddenly have 2 snakes.

I got my son a snake for his 20th birthday in May, well went halves with him on the set up costs and snake and on August 17th I came home from the shop with My Ruby as Jordan had moved Savara into a small viv and the set up equiptment was sitting idle :-)

I paid for everything and set it all up. I order it and Riddle has to remain in my room at all times. My Mother and I don't get along putting it lightly.

I am gay and I definately don't want children. That threat won't work. She will get use to Riddle eventually. Then I will introduce her to idea of another.
