Hi, i have a thermomitor that sits 1 bit at either side of my snakes viv, i cant get the temp any higher than 25oc and im worried its to cold for him.ive had him 3 weeks now and he has only eaten 1 meal. I no he is settled in ok and he now comes out to play and wraps round my hand whenever im cleaning or changing his water etc. why wont he eat and is he warm enough.?
okies, a few things we'll need to know first... what size/age is he? where is thermometer (height from ground)? how is the viv heated (lamp/ceramics/mat)? what size is the viv? how big was his last meal?
I know thats quite a list but without that the only advice i can really offer is a) 3 weeks is not at all a long time for a snake to go without food, so dont panic on that front yet b) pop to your local herp shop and you should be able to pick up a digital thermometer. should cost >£15 and will have a small probe which you can put wherever you like (if the snake is spending a lot of time in one place, put it there) C) is the snake permanently basking or permanently in the warmer end? if not, hes probably not too cold! hope that helps!...welcome to the forum btw
