Ever since I've had Sir Hiss he has always shed in one piece, even when I first got him as a shabby rescue. Any way, He's just had his second shed in his new viv (the first being not long after he first moved in) And it was in quite a few pieces, which is really odd for him. At first I assumed that it was because it was wrapped round his climbing branch, maybe it snagged on something coming off, but today I found some more bits at the other end of the viv in one of his hides and when I got him outhe still had some of his old skin stuck to him.
I know its not the worlds biggest issue just worried as its not normals for him. Wondering if maybe I need to add something to his new viv to help him shed better next time, such as a sheding box with some moss to raise the humidity... any advice, or should I just see how he goes next shed? |

| if this is the 2nd poor shed then yes add a damp hide next time. dont bother with misting or anything else like that that damp hide will suffice. |

| I know not many people have hygrometers but if you are struggling with bad sheds and humidity it wouldn't hurt to have one. My house is generally quite humid (45-50%) normally but I would raise humidity to 60% using a snake cave with slightly moistened moss in it. As said before misting is a bit pointless, it will almost instantly raise the humidity to about 90% which is very high and takes about 24-48 hours to come back to a more normal level. |

| I also use a damp moss hide (it really helps) to aid sids shedding and I also move his water bowl half on to the heat mat to help create more humidity. |

Thanks guys!! I have a hide which can be used as a sheding box so i will just add some damp substrate into it next time hes getting ready to shed

| if you can your better off to use a plastic tub with a hole cut in it eg a clear plastic icecream tub etc, i find if i use a normal hide and the moss is ontop of the substrate it seams to suck the water out the moss |

I'd go for the ice cream tub too. I find something plastic really helps retain the moisture levels. Hope the next shed goes ok.  |
