Well, I've got 4 snakes, so I'll guess I'll have to get a few more before giving any of them away..... |

I have all 28 of my snakes in RUBs. They all eat, they are all healthy and unstressed, they don't seem to care if their home is made of plastic or whether its made of wood. The vent holes are made with a soldering iron with (shock horror) the (not very) sharp edges left on the inside, they provide somewhere for the snake to rub on to start a shed. In nearly 10 years of keeping snakes I've not one single injured snake and no RUB related escapes.
I really can't see why some people are so against keeping animals in them. The 'In The Wild' argument isn't really valid because 1) A wooden box isn't comparable to wild open spaces either, and 2) in the wild 99% of the time a cornsnake will be in some tight tiny space keeping themselves to themselves.
This is the only half decent photo I have of a typical setup here because as said on the first page they aren't much to look at but provide all that is needed.....

I never sanded down the air holes I made in my TUBs, I made sure they weren't going to cut themselves and bleed but I figured leaving it a bit rough lets them use it when they try and shed if the want too. My did daddykins did mine with me with a belt puncher lol.
My adults don't use all their viv space, they are always sleeping. I just have vivs as I like decorating, even though the snakes don't care or appreciate my efforts :P |

Thanks everyone :D.
Eeji - love you snake playing peeka :D
I hope this discussion over rubs vs vivs (although that was not my original topic) helps newbies feel more confident on their rub choice!! As I newbie I came here for advice, made my decision to use rubs and then got slated for it when I asked to see pics of people rubs.
Im very happy with my choice now - just wait for the last of my hides and plants to arrive! :D

It's a shame people get like that, but its your choice to keep them in RUBs, and if it's good for you, and good for your snakes, carry on!
