I got some delivered yesterday, I also bought some clear aquarium tube so I can make sure its water proff and I can glue gun the tube up instead ot using the tape that comes with the leds, I bought smd leds which are single collour and do not need a transformer. But if you get multicoloured rgb leds you can get a remote for 2 pounds that changes the colour. X

Someone posted a link on here yesterday for some at Ikea, they looked quite good. I'm currently looking for some and I've found the LED's, but the ones i've found need transformers and such and I'm not very electrical minded!

hi
not seen smd that don't need a transformer but seen some enlosed in silione.infact i ordered them save messing with tubeing.seemed cheap enough for a 5meter lenght, maplins want a tenner for a 30cm lenght
going to use mini-trunking to hide the wires.should save snakie from wrapping it's self in them

I have top opening vivs, with little room for trunking, I tend to glue gun everything. Smd leds go straight to a wev ac adapter x

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/00202324/ These ones from Ikea will do your day time light - if you want it 'soft' just choose a pale yellow or pink colour on the dial and your night time blue light.

My only concern would be that the night time colour adjustment would still be too bright, but the 'darker' blue shades are pretty soft. Of course it depends on your viv as well - we've got one set of these highlighting our 4ft vx vivexotic so I presume they'll be brighter if you stick all four strips in a 3ft viv.

If you by a reel of rgb, a transformer and a ir controller box you can adjust the colour, and brightness whilst having only one strip of lights.

You really only want two strips in a 3ft viv, gives a nice soft light in the evenings, great lights.

That's two strips in the viv...two strips to back light it like a beefed up car! Or you know..you could just feed them into another viv if the wires reach!
