Tried feeding again,no luck not sure what to do now. Leave him in his rub with mouse or leave him for a few days and try again? |

Try leaving the mouse in overnight Some snakes are just shy feeders |

Yeah, pop mouse in a wee plastic bag and defrost in warm water, till it's def defrosted and warmish. Should I put the rub inside the faun ,half over the heat mat? Don't want him to get too warm or cold! |

I've popped him in his faun in his rub with a bit loo roll which he's hiding under.....is this ok? His hides don't fit. Hopefully mouse will be gone by morning and he's just shy! |

try just leaving it out in a glass, defrosting in water can alter the scent. try just defrosting at room tempreture. see if that helps |

I did the same as you but didn't work.
What I did in the end was defrost a pinky at room temeprature and just before feeding boil the kettle. Put the mouse in your sink and pour boiling water over it till the skin turns white then put straight into the rub and leave it there and 20 seconds later my hatchling was munching away! |

You don't need to put his feeding rub in his faun, just pop the mouse under a hide on a bit if kitchen roll. How big is he? And are you temps ok? X |

Thanks for the tips guys. How long should you leave a pinkie to defrost? I should still leave it a few days before i try again right? |

He's 7 grams. Just small! The pinkie i tried him on was a tiny 1gram one, so assuming it wasn't too big - that's what the shop had been feeding him on. Temps are in between 27.5 - 29 at hot end, cold end around 24. If i have to leave it in again, i'll just pop it in his hide |

I leave pinkies 2 hrs to defrost. It helps to heat the head up, so run it under the hot tap before offering it to the snake. I'd feed him in his faun to start with, then move to a rub when you've established a good feeding routine with him Try not to worry, lots of hatchies refuse their first 3-4 feeds in their new home, just takes time for them to feel settled enough to eat |

Okaydoke. I'm trying not to haha, i know this can be normal, just frustrating!
I take it i shouldn't handle him till he's eaten a couple of times? I think it's gona be a loooong few weeks!
On the bright side, at least he shed perfect the first time with me. Something is going right haha! |

It's best not to handle him until he starts feeding. It's horrible when they won't feed, but just takes time and lots of patience on the owners part I had this last year when I first got Falco. I ended up covering both sides, back & top of his box with paper (after moving him into a tiny little breeder box (7x7x7")) and using toilet roll tubes cut in half for hides. The feeling when they eventually eat is amazing |

I can't wait to be posting saying 'he ate!' Again, thanks for the tips, will keep them in mind for next shot! Just gotta stop being impatient! Have noticed since he shed he's been exploring a lot more, which I am assuming is a good thing! Puts my mind at rest a bit. Going to try on Friday I think.
So glad I found this forum! |

As already said, don't handle him, don't move him into a different tub, leave him somewhere quiet and undisturbed and try not to stress
I sold a perfectly eating hatchling to someone a few weeks back- they didn't let it settle, have been handling it every day, have been putting it in a different tub to feed, their house has been full of workmen and now they've moved it to a mates house.
And then they ring me and insinuate there is something wrong with it. Grrr. |

No wonder that poor snake isn't eating! I'll try everything that's been suggested. Fingers crossed! |

dont worry to much..when i got rubi as a hatchling took her 5 weeks to feed i tried a variety of things including leaving in faun, leaving her and pinkie in a tub, braining, scenting (with tuna i think), wiggling infront of her nose..in the end she took a pinkie that had been put in a bag over boiling water to heat it up. i usually left few days in between each attempt. |
