I usually buy mice bred here in the uk and never had a problem with them. My last lot I bought I know were imports from holland. When I defrost these mice the fur becomes really wet and some of them seem really hard, like they are still frozen, even though they have been thoroughly defrosted and I have had one that was really bloated after defrosting. I'm beginning to wonder if these mice have been frozen then thawed then refrozen or could it be that they were killed then gone several days before being frozen? Would be intersted to have your thoughts on these.
Think I will be going back to my original supplier.

I believe there are several shops both high street and online that sells mice and rats that are imported.

Assume all mice and rats in shops and online are imported, unless it says otherwise.

Yeah I would say most are imported and have either partially or totally defrosted a few times before we get them. They should be squishy and flexible when defrosted, if they appear inflated or hard they sound like they have gone bad in my opinion and should be thrown away. I'm sure that a snake would eat it still and its likely to do no harm but I personally would prefer them a little fresher for my lot so they'd go in the bin.
