Looks OK has a good high range to. but its a bit vage on what it can control. I'm guessing as it says it can control lamps that it predominantly is a dimming stat as you can't run a visual lamp with an on/off or pulse signal. Also no instructions showing in the download section.

If u want it to must run mats better off getting 2 mat stats or a habistat twin stat.

From previous complaints about Micro Climate's stability range, I'd be more inclined to go for the Habistat Dual Thermostat. Same power rating and known to be more accurate. Looks to be a good bit cheaper too.

the two stats i've got now are the micro climats and like you say they do have quite the range although i must say the newer one is much better, wasn't sure if being a new model the range would be better? Having seen the price for both think i would be going for the habistat! i've heard nothing but good thinks about them.

That's more so just the 100/300 though which are just on off stats. There pulse an dimming don't suffer this. The one mentioned here is a new digitally controlled so shouldn't be just as accurate with temps as a pulse or dimming

Am I correct in thinking the Habistat is not a dimming stat where as the Microclimate is?

From the pictures and description in the PDF, the Habistat looks like a doubled up Proportional Pulse Stat. It should be OK for standard mats and ceramic heaters but not for use with heat lamps. (Non dimming.)

I have a single version Pulse running a ceramic lamp and it keeps perfect set value. My vote stays with Habistat.

The Micro Climate is vague on what type it is. 'New Digital Processor' means hee-haw since everything is solid state since the demise of valves.

Tbh this hh6 I'm not sure what it is, all microclimate say is its digital with micro processer. It says it can control a heater and a basking lamp. So its either pulse or dimming, but asumming it can run visual basking would have to be dimming.

The habistat twin doesn't say if its dimming or pulse on it so would assume its on off as only 300w x 2 outputs. Which the is the same wattage output as the temp stat which is an on off.

But if it was doubled up pulses it would make it 2 x 600w

No, I'm pretty sure it is a 2 channel with 300 watts handling per channel.

Yeah it is 2 individually controlled 300 watt outputs, which would make it 2 heat stats. If it was pulses doubled up would be 2 600 watt outputs

According to habistat instructions the twin stat is ideally suited for mats an strips..... on that I'd say deffo on off.

Best thing to do to clear up any doubts is to get the specs and types from Customer Support. We can guess all night and get bits of the story correct.

Well as said twin stat says best suited for mats an strips. So would be fine to run 2 corn/king/rat etc on mats. But at £40+ would be cheaper to buy to mat stats anyway lol

And in theory u could run 2 whole racks reg 2 differant temps from 1 twin stat, 300 watt a rack is a fair few strips or mats lol.

Yep! You can run two different temps from the Twin. It would be a Fire Regulation nightmare with multiple multi-plugs stacked to the ceiling.

Haha yep. But you could easily make that easier by taking off the standard single socket on the stat an wiring a 4 way to it then run multi plugs from that if needed. Would also look tidier.

I don't think my neighbour is going to be overly chuffed when I knock down the dividing wall and start piling up another 6 viv stacks in her living room. Considering the fact that she won't even come into my home due to her fear of snakes. She doesn't know of my expanding collection and thinks I only have the original single Corn. She would have kittens if only she knew.

Don't even mention that I might be getting a T!! That would mean her laying a brick with her name stamped on it!
