After initial concern, it appears Tess isn't going to shed and her eyes haven't milked up (after the seller advised she may do) However I have noticed a few things.
1. Firstly that she is a bit wrinkly in her thickest part when she's 's' ed up 2. I have noticed the odd bit of shed (just the size and shape of a scale) hanging on her 3. She almost makes a faint crackly sound as she flexs about when I hold her.
I'm not sure if I'm over thinking this, or if any of the above is normal, but I have let her slither about in a warm damp towel and I intend to bathe her when I get back tomorrow. She seems ok when I get her out but is a bit threatening when I put my hand in to pick her up still. She's 3 years old, 29degree viv with big water bowl which I notice her drinking from time to time.
Should I be concerned? Any hints for bathing snakes? Cheers in advance for your help! |

Late reply but better late than never! It sounds like she could either have some retained shed from last time, or she could perhaps be dehydrated. The damp pillowcase idea is great for helping remove any stuck shed, so there's no harm in leaving her in a tied up pillowcase for 10 minutes As for the bath, a great way to help rehydrate them is to give them a Powerade bath, literally just pop to the shop and get yourself one of those bottles of the blue Powerade (I don't think it matters too much which flavour you get but I always get blue ), run a shallow, luke warm bath, and add the whole bottle of Powerade into it, then let her have a swim! Last time I did this for one of my girls she actually drank it and was immediately visibly stronger and more alert (she was exhausted from having just laid a clutch of eggs). Hope this helps! |

Thanks Manda, def a novel sounding idea! Luckily a few days after this post she went blue and after a perfect shed is now looking fantastic. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will remember it. |
