Hey dudes, in recovering Essfer from atop the water heater he seems to have taken a small scratch. I didn't notice it yesterday but I saw it today and it looks to have scabbed, ergo bled.
Will it heal up of its own accord or should I put some antiseptic treatment on? |

Should heal up. If it swells or looks red and sore then a trip to the vet. He'll probably shed more as it gets better....that's normal. Would be a good idea to search for cause of injury. Get rid of offending item. |

The injury was my fault in part. He escaped and was found in the airing cupboard which is has some rough hewn planks. In the grabbing and untangling I think he must have gotten scratched.
He's in blue at the moment so I'll keep an eye and see how the shed looks. |

It might take a few sheds fairly close together but as I said he should be ok as long as it doesn't become infected. If I were you I'd give him a moist hide and move his water to the warm side. That should help him shed easily and cleanly. |

Would a raised humidity not increase the chance of infection?
(Not questioning your knowledge, just don't want to do anything wrong for my little guy) |

Ah its only a little scratch! I wouldnt worry bout it to be honest! Any precautions you take are purely that... precautions! I'd say he'd be just as fine if left to his own accord. |

Aww, I think it's awesome that you care so much. That gets my 100% approval!!! I used to worry about all little lot, still do if it's something new that I can't find an answer to! As long as the hide is only slightly moist it should be ok. I only suggested it to aid shedding. It's not essential to use one. I'm sure he'll be fine whichever you choose. |
