Hey dudes, in recovering Essfer from atop the water heater he seems to have taken a small scratch. I didn't notice it yesterday but I saw it today and it looks to have scabbed, ergo bled.

Will it heal up of its own accord or should I put some antiseptic treatment on?

Should heal up. If it swells or looks red and sore then a trip to the vet. He'll probably shed more as it gets better....that's normal.
Would be a good idea to search for cause of injury. Get rid of offending item.

The injury was my fault in part. He escaped and was found in the airing cupboard which is has some rough hewn planks. In the grabbing and untangling I think he must have gotten scratched.

He's in blue at the moment so I'll keep an eye and see how the shed looks.

It might take a few sheds fairly close together but as I said he should be ok as long as it doesn't become infected.
If I were you I'd give him a moist hide and move his water to the warm side. That should help him shed easily and cleanly.

Would a raised humidity not increase the chance of infection?

(Not questioning your knowledge, just don't want to do anything wrong for my little guy)

Ah its only a little scratch! I wouldnt worry bout it to be honest! Any precautions you take are purely that... precautions! I'd say he'd be just as fine if left to his own accord.

Aww, I think it's awesome that you care so much. That gets my 100% approval!!!
I used to worry about all little lot, still do if it's something new that I can't find an answer to!
As long as the hide is only slightly moist it should be ok. I only suggested it to aid shedding. It's not essential to use one. I'm sure he'll be fine whichever you choose.

The wound Monster got during his walkabout looked visually much worse than what I see in your pic and he healed up ok.. still has a bit of a scar but he's only shed once since the incident.

The one piece of advice which I found to be most help was to smell the wound.. infection stinks..
