Just got round to redoing the vivs and thought I'd take a few pics to document my deviance

First the bare viv (tank)

I taped the heatmat to the underside of the tank using aluminum foil tape (hvac tape) The probe for the stat is stuck to the underside of the mat with the same alfoil tape.

I use a layer of tile to spread the heat out

And more tiles to create the hot hide

Thanks to the hurricane I was able to get some nice new viv decor and in the absence of perfect a saw and a few nails/zip ties can make a good replica.

Monster approves

I bury almost all of it except for a basking spot (Russians like to bask)

Then add the fauna...

...and the flora.

I'm using a ramekin for a water dish (the round thing). I do all the setup with it flipped then turn it right side up in the perfect 'hole' in the aspen and fill.

I'm replacing the digi thermometer atm and that's why it's missing. If anyone could link to a trusted ebay source that will ship to Canada I'd appreciate it.

I aim to create as much vertical space as possible to make the viv 'larger'. The ivy works great at that, it's dense enough that he can sit on it or hide under it.

Please feel free to comment.

Thanks all

I'm using 8 inch tile right now but I think soon I'll have to upgrade to 12 inch.

I also need to get a few more pieces cut down for spacers... I'm just using left over bits from a bathroom reno right now.

The sock was a 'get them used to your scent' thing I got from a friend who was going to snake sit for me. Monster loved it so much it became a permanent fixture.

Kitty is set up the same way but with a shelf instead of a basking spot
