So, I recently purchased a Ghost Cornsnake from a breeder; about 2 months old. He was the only one who tried to bite (at all) out of the entire group and he certainly as guts. he'll fall off 6ft without even the slightest bother.

He usually does a bit of tail wagging but today he decided it was time to try his luck with biting.

I've had one bite from my corns before from my 2 year old corn snake called Lucy, a beautiful amenalistic female corn. She's incredibly placid but I did act a bit out of turn and startled her. She quickly let go and curled up and let me handle her once she realised who it was, so I sort of deserved it.

But this little ghost (named Fawkes, quite appropriately) has the most powerful bite I've ever felt for a corn of his age. Literally, I've had adult bull pythons bite me; inflicting less pain and damage than this (in proportion to size, of course)
He's about 3 months, and he successfully not only managed to inflict noticeable damage but actually managed to dig into my finger enough to make it bleed everywhere, and I don't even bleed much. It was and still is noticeably painful - best thing? He didn't even dig his teeth in, he literally bit into my finger and then retracted, all in the space of about a single second.
He's still young though and I'm sure he'll lighten up I'm sure, but I'm curious as to whether I've got an unusually powerful biter or it's (hopefully) not as rare as I've come to believe.

Will post pics if you like :)

I'd love to see some pics! I am sure he'll tame up because he sounds like a feisty guy for sure (1 up for the name), but I am afraid I can't tell if it's a normal thing...

Quite often hatchlings and young corns can be nippy little souls. They usually calm down with lots of handling and age.
Just make sure you don't put him down as soon as he's tagged you or he'll get the idea that if he bites then he gets his own way and is left alone....not good if you ever need to examine him up close!

What! no severed digit?..

I clicked looking for blood!...

He might have just got lucky.. hit a blood vessel close to the surface.

Get bit more.. collect more data... it's the only way...

(neither of my boys have shown any inclination to bite, so I cant really comment on that)

I have a butter motley who, about a fortnight ago would bite me every time I went near him, he even got my face lol. He's not as powerfully as Fawkes but it was weird watching him get all grumpy.
