Hi. As the title says. Sid sheds give or take a day or two around the 18th of every month. He's been like this since I bought him in February 2013. He's missed Decembers shed. I haven't noticed his eyes goin blue. He's still eating fine. He was moved in to his big viv a week ago yesterday.
His skin is dull like when he sheds but as of yet it hasn't happened and he's been like this since before he went into the big viv. Usually it takes 1/2days
Today I put him in a bowl of lukewarm water which he loves when he come out he made a strange noise as if sneezing. He's now back in his viv curled up over the heat mat |

| Mine have been taking aaagggees to shed lately, I'm assuming the cold weather is slowing them down. The bath usually helps, sounds like you're doing right. Has he got a moist hide to sit in? |

| Basically just as it sounds. Usually people use sphagnum moss, wet it and put it in a hide, for example I use a tupperware box with a hole cut in for access. Make sure the moss is damp, not dripping. You should be able to squeeze it and get almost no drops out of it. Alternatively you could use damp kitchen roll, dries out a bit faster though. It's only really necessary during shedding, you can put it in when they go blue and take it out once they've shed. |

| I shall look in to that. The only issue being he never really goes in his hides he tunnels under them but pops out other side. He curls up behind the plant pot I have. Would it work the same by putting a hand full of damp miss behind the plant pot? Which is also where the heat mat is |

That would be fine, but the moss will dry out faster that way, just have to re damp it if it dries out before he shed.
Or a damp tea towel would do since you dont have the moss just now |

| That's great thanks. He worries me! I want to do my best for him. He's so dull ATM and he feels kinda full and squishy if you get what I mean? Also noticed he's not pooped since being moved in to the viv just over a week ago |

| Rosie has been keeping me waiting for weeks. She became dull around the 15th. However she was Blue on Sunday so I am hoping she will shed tonight or tomorrow. |

| Well for reference, Rosie's average between sheds is 43 days. The gap between the last two sheds was 80 days! |

| Well he's not using his moss box. I've give him a few warm baths. His colouring has returned to normal but his eyes are still blue and have been for about 4days ish.. Seems like he's doin it all backwards.. I've also noticed the temp goes to about 20c at night so I've bought a night bulb to keep the temp up abit more for him |

As he's not using the moss hide you can put an extra water bowl on the heatmat and mist the warm end slightly each morning. This will help keep the humidity up. I guess it could be that the time of year and temperature is slowing things down.
I commented on your other post, saying how you don't need the mat and bulb, before I found the 2 posts you have in this section. You say the temp is dropping down to about 20oC at night. Is the mat now inside the viv? Are you still using the heat bulb? Are both on thermostats? How are you measuring the warm end temp?

| Sorry didn't check other post I made. Heat mat isn't in the viv yet. Waiting for partner to sort this as it will need drilling for the wire. Didn't realise I needed a thermostat petshop said heatmat and thermometer are fine. I will be buyin the mini stat 100 tomorrow. I check the temp at warm end using a digital thermometer placing the probe in the substrate over the heatmat. I bought a red night bulb |

Sorry for the late reply Kelly. Have you managed to move the heatmat into the viv now? You've discovered what many of us have, not to trust what pet shops and even reptile shops tell you. My local reptile shop says you don't need a stat, which is ludicrous.
Once the heatmat is in you shouldn't need the heat bulb as well. If you do continue to use it, it could do with a stat to control it as well. Both it and the mat will be heating the viv and you don't want it getting too hot. Hope I'm making sense, serious brain fog this morning!
Has he shed yet?
