Hi my frank last ate on 15 march and is, I guess, on his natural fast/breeding season. I still offer him mice but ignores all offerings. Anyone know how long this can go on for? I just want him to eat!!!!! Franks is just slightly over 2 years old and didn't do this last year I guess cos too young. He weighed 445 gms on 27th april. Is this reasonable please?

Nothing to worry about, one of my males fasted for 4 months during breeding season. You're snake is a good weight so he will be fine. Just weigh him every 1-2 weeks to make sure he's not loosing loads of weight . He will eat when he's ready

I know it's a worrying time of year, especially when it's your/his first time. Kellog stopped eating at the end of February. I managed to tempt him to eat twice in that time by offering him a small mouse, rather than the large he would normally have, but he refused again this week and is still patrolling his viv. It seems to be going on later this year than previous years.

Frank is a good weight and this is a 'natural fast' so he shouldn't lose too much. Hopefully his hormones will soon come under control but until then all you can do it wait.

Xxx
