I get the 2 new cornsnakes tonight i think there either normals or okeetes put pics up later.I need to split for now am putting one in a rub...Got the box a 50l plastic one i know the heat mat goes underneath on the outside but do i put anything between the mat and the box and are they strong enough not to melt and catch light

my rubs have a piece of newspaper between it and the mat just to be on the safe side..also make sure you have plenty of air holes! i didnt put enough in when testing the royals out so had to do some last minute diy lol
looking forwards to the pics and congrats on the new arrival

i just had mats directly underneath RUBs too, as long as the mat is runing off a stat it shouldn't get overly warm

cornsnakes, ratsnakes, bullsnakes, boas and day geckos

as GP says as long as its stated it will be fine. mine are all directly under the rub.

I always use stats there essential part of keeping a cornsnake even tho these never had 1...Do u keep the stat the same temp as in the warm end of a viv? i never used a rub before.

yup calibrate it using a digi thermometer and just leave it set at between 28-30
