I've read the same question several times over the past few days: "What is the right weight for my corn at its current length?". I've looked around, googled my way around the internet, but to no avail.

I know there's a huge variance in snake age/length/weight, but I'd like to try and set up a chart to show some averages (with standard deviation and such). To do that, I'm going to need a large amount of data. That's why I'd like to ask you guys for help.

I'm looking for the following data. The snake's:

- Gender
- Date of birth
- Date of weigh-in / measuring
- Length from the tip of the snout to the tip of the tail (in meters/centimeters if possible, but any system will do)
- Weight (in kilograms/grams if possible, but any system will do)

When I have enough data, I'll be happy to put it all together and share the information with you guys :)

Also, if someone knows this has been done before and the data is publicly available somewhere, please do share :)

The variation is so huge any 'average' will just give owners something to worry about. There is a graph of just weigh to age on the Royal Python forum and is just for comparison and clearly marked as so but it still worries people. It would be interesting to see though, it may be worth having a word with the TRP admin/mod squad (GMac will be your best bet, he is on both), they may be able to provide you with the template they use.

Isoldael, I can put the data for my two here as I measure/ weigh them regularly, but I don't know their exact hatching dates. Little T I know is end of July/ beginning of August 2011, and Bazilishka was bought in April 2011 and I was told she was 5 - 6 months old, so late CB 2010. Would you still be interested?

I thought about getting in to a project like this..

Something like a snake Body Mass Index.. (underweight, small, typical, large, fat)

I'll throw Kitty on the scale and see about getting his length.. I haven't recorded length in the past though so I can only give you the one data point..

0.0.1 CB'11 Russian Rat Snake 'Monster'

@lotabob - with any results I get, I'll clearly mention that it's just a guideline, and that the variance is HUGE. Many people just want some reassurance that their snake's weight is within normal range :)

@Razee - an approximate date will do fine, I'll probably group the results in months anyway ^^ Thanks in advance!

Thanks guys :D

9.5.11 - 13g and 37 cm
shed 1 -25.5. - 45 cm - she's 40.5 cm and 14.5 g
shed 2 -5.7.- 48 cm - she's 43 cm and 19g
shed 3 - 4.8. - on holiday boarding
shed 4 - 4.9. - 58 cm - she's 52.5 cm and 32 g
shed 5 - 22.10. - 64 cm - she's 58 cm and 44 g
shed 6 - 27.12. - 69 cm - she's 62.1 cm and 60 g
shed 7 - 26.2.12 - 73cm - she's 65.7 cm and 84 g

shed 12 - 7.10. - 101 cm - she's 90.9 cm and 200 g

Little Twiddler - hatched end of July, beginning of August 2011, bought 21.1.2012
18 g
shed 1 - 3.2.12 - 48 cm - he's 43.2 cm and 19 g
shed 2 - 17.3. - 55 cm - he's 49.5 cm and 30 g

shed 4 - 28.6. - 73 cm - he's 65.7 cm and 80 g
shed 5 - 9.8. - 91. 5cm - he's 82.3 cm and 100 g
shed 6 - 29.9. - 96 cm - he's 86.4 cm and 127 g

sorry for long post - I've got many more measurements, but that would use several pages... :-) hope it helps. I fed every 5 - 6 days when on pinkies, every 6 -7 days when on fuzzies and hoppers, once a week now, and I don't feed them when in shed.
